The High School and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) conducted a two-day training on gender-responsive governance for specialists from the Kyiv City State Administration and district state administrations.
The trainers and consultants of the NDI, Oksana Yarosh, PhD in Political Science, and Natalia Tarasenko, Chair of the Board of the NGO “Parity”, Advisor to the Head of the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration on Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men, Prevention and Counteraction to Gender-Based Violence, worked with the students.
The training participants discussed the importance of integrating gender approaches into management and decision-making processes. They also got acquainted with international and national legal documents on gender equality. They discussed gender aspects of public service and methods of gender analysis for making effective management decisions. Particularly valuable were examples of gender stereotypes from the practical activities of specialists from the Kyiv City State Administration and district state administrations, as well as the experience of applying gender-oriented budgeting and gender audit.
