On April 4, a working group meeting was held to improve the educational and methodological support for professional training on preventing and combating gender-based violence.

The interdisciplinary working group was established in March this year to ensure interagency cooperation and coordination, unify approaches to the development and implementation of programmes to combat gender-based violence, and to formulate target audiences.

The working group consisted of 19 experts from the High School, the Ministry of Education, the National Social Service, the National School of Judges, the National Police, the State Institution “Probation Centre”, the Training Centre for Prosecutors, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health, and the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine (UNFPA).

The Head of the High School, Yuliia Lykhach, expressed confidence that the activities of the working group would contribute to strengthening the institutional component, creating an effective system of response to cases of gender-based violence, and raising awareness of the problem of gender-based violence. The head of the High School also presented the National Training Centre for Preventing and Combating Gender-Based Violence.

The Centre was established with the support of the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine (UNFPA) as a holistic, flexible educational space that promotes the professional development and training of public servants, representatives of NGOs, state municipal institutions and organisations, educational institutions, and other specialists in the field of preventing and combating gender-based/domestic violence.

Nataliia Shcherbak, Head of the National Training Centre on Combating Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, presented the main achievements, results of educational activities for the first quarter, as well as the planned activities of the Centre for the second to fourth quarters of 2024.

At the end of the meeting, the participants discussed cooperation with potential partners on joint activities.
