Participants of the educational marathon “Organisation of work in the de-occupied territories” held at the High School discussed key skills in countering disinformation.

Hybrid information warfare does not stop for a moment, and the enemy is trying new methods of influence. The occupiers are now actively spreading disinformation in the frontline regions, focusing on local issues and problems. Therefore, those who work on the ground, in the regions, are the first line of defence that takes the blows and responds to propagandists’ attacks.

According to Yuliia Lykhach, Head of the High School, information warfare is a complex challenge that requires a comprehensive approach and interdisciplinary cooperation, and successful countering disinformation is only possible through close cooperation between government agencies, NGOs, media and every citizen of Ukraine.

The students had the opportunity to discuss countering disinformation as a component of strategic communications with Viktoriia Zrazhevska, Head of Training at the Centre for Strategic Communications and Information Security at the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

The speaker emphasised the importance of systematic cooperation with the High School in this area for meaningful training of public servants and exchange of experience for successful countering disinformation. Not only were the theoretical foundations of countering disinformation discussed, but also practical skills were developed and real-life examples of russian propaganda were analysed.

The participants learnt how to recognise fakes and create information materials that answer the pressing questions of local communities.

As a reminder, more than 800 participants have already joined the educational marathon dedicated to organising work in the de-occupied territories. This project provides a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge and skills from practitioners who share their experience.
