From 29 to 31 October, the Truskavets City Council hosted a training seminar for professionals on preventing and combating gender-based violence, including conflict-related domestic and sexual violence (CRSV). The event was organized by the High School of Public Governance, the National Training Center for the Prevention of Gender-Based Violence, together with UNFPA of the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine, with financial support from the European Union.
The participants of the seminar learned in detail about the key aspects of interagency cooperation as an integral part of an effective policy to combat gender-based violence. They discussed how the interaction of agencies allows for a comprehensive solution to domestic violence, which remains the most common form of gender-based violence. Particular attention was paid to the basic concepts and signs of sexual violence, as well as to the issue of CRSV, which requires specific approaches to counteract it.
The seminar also studied international standards and the national system of protection against gender-based violence, including the practice of a victim-centered approach in interagency cooperation. The specifics of communication with victims and organizational and practical aspects of cooperation between agencies dealing with these issues were discussed.
In general, the workshop was an important event for the development of interagency cooperation in Ukraine, which will improve the effectiveness of combating gender-based violence, including CRSV.
