From October 16 to 18, a training of trainers was held to strengthen interagency cooperation in the field of preventing and combating gender-based violence. The training participants discussed the importance of cooperation between government agencies, NGOs and other actors involved in the protection of victims.

Special attention was paid to mentoring as an effective tool for developing professional competencies. Yuliia Lykhach, Head of the High School, presented the experience of implementing mentoring in the public service. Mentors, having the necessary knowledge and experience, help newcomers integrate into the work process faster, learn new skills and understand the specifics of government agencies. This reduces the adaptation time of newly appointed employees, promotes the development of professional, personal and business qualities necessary for the effective performance of official duties, and improves the overall atmosphere in the team,” said Yuliia Lykhach.

Over the course of three days, the participants focused on the following issues

  • coordination of actions in cases of conflict-related sexual violence;
  • the role of leaders in the development of interagency cooperation;
  • victim-centered approach in the interaction of state institutions;
  • the nuances of working with victims of gender-based and domestic violence.

An important element of the event was a professional discussion on the main challenges in establishing effective cooperation between different agencies. Participants discussed ways to improve coordination and communication between agencies providing assistance to victims.

The event was attended by representatives of state authorities and local governments, judicial and prosecutorial institutions, and educational institutions,

The event once again emphasized that only effective cooperation between all involved institutions can ensure an adequate level of protection and support for victims of violence.
