On 23 April, the High School, together with the National Democratic Institute, launched a training for trainers on Gender Responsive Governance.
Professional development of public servants on the implementation of a gender-oriented approach in the civil service is relevant, as taking into account gender differences and needs ensures compliance with the principles of human rights in the management and administration of public authorities.
The High School is implementing a number of measures aimed at improving the skills of implementing a gender-oriented approach. These include trainings, seminars, online courses and curricula.
Implementation of a gender-oriented approach in the civil service is a complex process that requires the combined efforts of stakeholders at all levels. In 2023, more than 5,300 people took part in programmes on ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men at the Graduate School and all regional training centres.
The great interest in training on gender-responsive governance demonstrates the awareness of the relevance of this topic in public authorities. Therefore, there is a growing need for professional trainers to help in the acquisition of relevant knowledge and skills.
Professional trainers Oksana Yarosh, a consultant at the National Democratic Institute (NDI), and Natalia Tarasenko, an expert on gender-oriented governance at the National Democratic Institute (NDI), will work with the students for 4 days to improve their professional competencies and gain new practical experience.
We would like to remind you that the High School, in cooperation with the NDI team, has implemented many projects and initiatives that have ensured the integration of the gender component into the civil service system. We are talking about the successful educational project ‘Gender Mainstreaming School’, which developed and implemented training programmes on ‘Gender-oriented governance in Ukraine’ for different categories of civil servants. An online course ‘Gender Approach in Public Administration’ was also prepared, which will become part of the civil servants’ professional development programme.
Joint work on a manual for trainers on gender-responsive governance, which will be based on best practices in the field of gender equality, is nearing completion.
