Applications are now being accepted for the fourth cycle of the European Union Diplomatic Programme for the Enlargement Region – a five-month residential programme for diplomats and civil servants from countries in the EU enlargement region, organised by the College of Europe.

The programme is aimed at professionals working in the fields of foreign policy, European integration, EU accession issues and cooperation with European Union institutions. Ukrainian diplomats and officials, in particular, are eligible to apply.

Up to 15 participants from the EU enlargement region will be selected for the programme. The course will run from 29 August 2026 to 30 January 2027 at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. It also includes a study week in Natolin, Warsaw, and study visits to EU institutions.

The programme combines lectures, practical sessions, simulations, role-playing exercises, the preparation of analytical papers, presentations and study visits. Participants will work on topics relating to EU external action, diplomacy, enlargement policy and the negotiation process.

Diplomats and officials from ministries, government bodies and public institutions are eligible to apply if they:

  • are citizens of one of the countries in the EU enlargement region, including Ukraine;
  • have been working in the diplomatic or public service for no more than 8 years;
  • have experience or knowledge in the field of European integration / EU affairs;
  • have a C1 level of English;
  • can obtain official approval from their employer to participate in the five-month programme.

To apply, you must submit a CV in English, a cover letter, written confirmation of support for your application from your manager, and supporting documents.

The deadline for applications is 10 June 2026, at midnight Central European Time (CET).
