On 18-19 June 2024, the National Training Centre for Prevention and Combating Gender-Based Violence of the High School is holding a two-day training. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine – UNFPA Ukraine.
This time, the training programme “Preventing and Combating Gender-Based Violence, including Domestic Violence” is being held for representatives of the Odesa region. These are heads and deputies of city and district councils, territorial communities, coordinators and social work specialists.
As Natalia Shcherbak, head of the National Training Centre, noted at the opening, advanced training on this topic is an extremely important step towards eradicating gender-based violence and creating an inclusive society where equality and respect for the rights of every person prevail.
Such trainings enable community representatives to better understand the nature, scope and manifestations of gender-based violence and its devastating impact on people’s lives and on the community as a whole.
For two days, experienced trainers will be working with the participants – Lyudmyla Akimova, UNFPA Municipal Coordinator, and Alla Kiriyak, Municipal Consultant. The participants will learn about the current legislation, response mechanisms and support systems for victims of violence, gain the knowledge and skills necessary to identify signs of violence, and consider the causes and gender stereotypes underlying violence. The training will allow community representatives to develop and implement effective preventive measures at the level of their territories, and establish effective communication and cooperation between various stakeholders in this area, which is a key factor in ensuring a comprehensive approach to combating violence. Upon completion of the training, participants will be tested and receive certificates of advanced training.
