On 22 April, the High School, together with UNDP Ukraine, launched a training of trainers on human rights.

The purpose of this training is to train specialists to educate public officials whose responsibilities include the implementation of the principles of non-discrimination, inclusiveness, and ensuring the rights of Ukrainian citizens.

Experienced trainers – Iryna Fedorovych, Director of the Social Action Centre, Volodymyr Yavorskyi, Programme Director of the Centre for Civil Liberties, and Serhiy Burov, Director of the Human Rights Education House, war crimes documentor – will work with 15 participants for a week. In particular, they will consider theoretical aspects, such as the principle of equality and the prohibition of discrimination, human rights at the stages of analysis and in times of war, the formation and implementation of state policy and state control. They will also focus on training methods for public servants and work in pairs to prepare for individual training sessions.

Ensuring respect for human rights is not only a legal obligation, but is also essential for justice, equality, trust in government, the rule of law, sustainable development and the general well-being of society. Much attention is paid to the development of competencies of public servants in the field of human rights, non-discrimination and gender equality in the activities of the School.

Thus, in 2023, 935 public servants underwent advanced training on the basis of two programmes developed in cooperation with UNDP (‘State without Barriers’ and ‘Human Rights’).

In addition, two more new programmes on easy reading and barrier-free accessibility are planned to be developed and implemented. It is expected that a total of 961 civil servants will be trained under the four programmes developed jointly with UNDP experts.

In addition, to introduce modern training technologies and educational innovations in the field of professional training, a training of trainers programme on ensuring the right to access public information in public authorities and local self-government bodies was developed in cooperation with the UNDP Human Rights for Ukraine project. The programme, under which 24 trainers were certified, was implemented as part of the Summer School of Coaching Excellence.
