On 24 May 2024, the High School joined the final event of the Mentoring for Leaders programme. This time, as part of the sessions for civil servants and representatives of NGOs, community leaders from Kharkiv region took part in the discussion.
Igor Khrebtiy, Head of the Department of the Center for Evaluating Fpplicants for Public Service Positions of the High School, presented the topic of leadership in public service during the war.
Participants were also actively interested in the procedure for evaluating candidates for civil service positions, as well as the exam to determine the level of proficiency in the state language, which is held at the Centre for Evaluation of Applicants at the High School.
It should be noted that in order to strengthen leadership skills and knowledge in the field of European integration and Ukraine’s recovery, the High School has developed a professional development programme called “Mentoring for Leaders”. This programme is aimed at civil servants of categories B and C, as well as local government officials. The main objectives are to raise awareness of mentoring and leadership in the public service, expand knowledge about the gender aspect of leadership and its role in providing psycho-emotional support in times of war, and introduce tools for self-regulation and prevention of professional burnout.
During the event, participants not only learned about mentoring and leadership in public service, but also explored the role of media education and media literacy, methods of countering disinformation, and considered psycho-emotional challenges in times of war.
The leading mentors of the session were Kostiantyn Lytvynenko, owner of PeopleHub HR, Natalia Oksha, Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Iryna Subota, information security and disinformation analyst, lecturer at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, and Inna Sytnyk, psychologist, trainer, member of the International Association of Psychologists and Expert Trainers.
The Mentoring for Leaders programme is implemented by UA Experts at the initiative of the Office of the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and with the support of the USAID Ukraine – USAID Ukraine Ukraine Confidence Building Initiative (UCBI).
