On 19-21 November, a training workshop was held to improve measures to prevent domestic and gender-based violence. The event was organised by the High School of Public Governance in partnership with the National Training Centre for Combating Gender-Based Violence and with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Ukraine. The event was funded by the European Union.
The key issue of the training was strengthening interagency cooperation as a tool to combat domestic violence, which is the most common form of gender-based violence. Participants analysed how the coordinated work of different structures can contribute to a more effective response to challenges. Considerable attention was also paid to the problems of sexual violence and the specifics of work in this area.
International standards and protection mechanisms at the national level were discussed during the seminar. The main emphasis was placed on practical approaches to communication with victims and effective joint efforts of support services.
The event was an important event for improving coordination between organisations involved in combating gender-based violence. The results of the work will contribute to the formation of a system that provides survivors with not only assistance but also protection that meets high international standards.
This initiative helps not only to improve the professional level of specialists, but also to lay the groundwork for long-term changes in the field of human rights protection in Ukraine.
