From November 12 to 14, the Volyn Regional Centre for Advanced Training hosted a training seminar for representatives of actors involved in preventing and combating domestic and/or gender-based violence. The event was organised by the High School of Public Governance, the National Training Centre for the Prevention of Gender-Based Violence, together with UNFPA of the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine, with financial support from the European Union.
The workshop participants took a deeper look at the key aspects of interagency cooperation as an important part of an effective policy to combat gender-based violence. They discussed how the coordinated work of agencies can help combat domestic violence, which remains the most common form of gender-based violence. Special attention was paid to the basic concepts and manifestations of sexual violence, as well as to specific approaches to combating CSV.
The seminar provided an in-depth look at international standards and national mechanisms for protection against gender-based violence, with a focus on a victim-centred approach to interagency cooperation. Participants discussed the specifics of communication with victims and practical aspects of coordination between support structures.
Overall, the workshop was a significant event for strengthening interagency cooperation in Ukraine, contributing to the effectiveness of measures to combat gender-based violence. This will help to create a more reliable system of protection and support for victims, as well as increase the professionalism of the involved specialists in implementing victim-centred approaches.
