On February 6, more than 300 representatives of local governments from different communities began training at the BoostPro International School of Project Management and Grant Writing.
The School is organised by the All-Ukrainian Association of Local Governments “Association of Amalgamated Territorial Communities”, the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service, the High School of Public Governance, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, and BUSTERS CONSULTING GROUP LLC.

The participants were greeted by Taras Dobrivskyi, Executive Director of the All-Ukrainian Association of Local Governments “Association of Amalgamated Territorial Communities”, Natalia Alushyna, Head of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service, Yuliia Lykhach, Head of the High School of Public Governance, and Iryna Chahovets, Head of the Integrity Office of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption.

The ability to attract investment for development and implement projects is key to the resilience of communities, and strong, self-sufficient territorial communities are an important factor in the country’s sustainability.

The training course, which will take place in February-March, aims to familiarise local government representatives with securing grant funds for project initiatives with the involvement of international experts. Particular attention will be paid to engaging participants in writing grant applications and teaching project management methods adapted to different target groups.

The School’s format includes a combination of theoretical and practical classes – an introductory session and 12 meetings, where step by step participants will go from problem analysis to formalisation of the main parts of a project proposal, consulting, step-by-step concept development, homework and mentoring of the best concepts.

In the first module, together with trainer Mykola Smolinsky, President of the Central European Academy of Training and Certification (CEASC), the students considered the project approach and its correlation with the vision, mission and strategy of the organisation/community, types of financial instruments, how the system of access to subsidised resources works, types and types of donors, as well as the main information platforms and access to them.

The implementation of a comprehensive training programme will enable local government representatives not only to improve their skills in grantwriting and project management, but also to obtain certificates in accordance with the academic integrity criteria introduced by the NAUCS.
