Representatives of the High School took part in the International Conference “Restoring the Rights of Survivors of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence: An Element of Peace and Global Security” on 4-5 March 2024.
Reparative and compensatory mechanisms for victims of conflict-related sexual violence, accountability for perpetrators of CRSV at the national and international levels, as well as international and intersectoral cooperation between authorities to ensure these processes are effectively implemented were the topics for discussion.
The high level of relevance of the issue was confirmed by the participation of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna, Government Commissioner for Gender Policy Kateryna Levchenko, representatives of the Government, Parliament and international partners.
It is worth noting that the High School of Public Governance has built a systematic work to counteract violence, including conflict-related violence.
The institution acts as a co-coordinator of the task force group on the development and implementation of trainings on CRSV of the Interagency Working Group on Combating Sexual Violence Related to Russia’s Armed Aggression against Ukraine and Assisting Victims.
The National Training Centre for Preventing and Combating Domestic Violence and Gender-Based Violence, which focuses on VAWG, operates on the basis of the Higher School.
In 2023, together with UN Women, the Dr Mukwege Foundation and the JurFem Association, a training of trainers programme was developed to provide training on the model GSPDP on “Identifying and responding to conflict-related sexual violence and assisting victims”. Also, during the Summer School of Coaching Excellence, 25 trainers were trained on domestic violence, gender-based violence and war-related sexual violence.
