On 20 November 2024, the Centre for the Evaluation of Applicants for Civil Service Positions, which functions as a structural unit of the High School of Public Governance, held an Open Day. The event brought together more than 30 participants, including students and young professionals.
The event featured a speech by Ihor Khrebtiy, Head of the Evaluation Centre, who emphasised the Centre’s mission to ensure equal access to civil service on the basis of legality, transparency, integrity and political impartiality. He also reported on the technical support of the Centre, including the space for independent testing in accordance with barrier-free standards.
Andriy Batkalov, Head of the Expert Group on Strategic Development of Human Resources Management at the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service, focused on the values of public service, such as professionalism, responsibility, integrity, respect for human rights and freedoms, and opportunities for young people. He presented mechanisms for attracting young people to the civil service, including internships, specialised development programmes, job fairs and other activities aimed at overcoming stereotypes about the civil service.
Participants of the event learned about the civil service selection processes and opportunities for professional development, including within the framework of the Democratic Integration, Resilience and Engagement (Ukraine-DARE) project, implemented by Democracy Reporting International with the support of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
The Open Day became a platform for discussing pressing issues of public service and allowed participants to better understand the role of public administration in building a democratic Ukraine.
