On December 11, the results of the Mobile Support Service project were presented at a forum organised by Vesta. The event brought together representatives of public administration, the public sector and the expert community. One of the topics discussed was the problem of sexism, gender inequality and sexual harassment in the workplace, particularly in the public sector. Yuliia Lykhach, Head of the High School of Public Governance, actively participated in the discussion, emphasising the importance of training civil servants in gender-sensitive approaches, which not only prevents discrimination but also contributes to creating a more inclusive and safe working environment for all.
The High School of Public Governance is actively engaged in training civil servants, focusing its programmes on the implementation of gender-sensitive approaches in professional activities. The main goal of the training is to develop the skills that allow professionals to effectively prevent sexual harassment, develop gender-sensitive communication and create equal opportunities for women and men in the civil service. These steps are necessary to bring about real change in organisational culture and ensure a more equal and safe working environment for all.
In 2022, the High School of Public Governance, together with the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service, the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy with the support of the EU for Gender Equality: Reform Assistance Service’ and the Educational and Research Centre for Applied Sociology “Socioplus”, conducted an anonymous survey among 21,148 people. The survey involved 15,079 women (71.3%) and 6,069 men (28.7%) from 79 central executive authorities. The results of this survey helped to identify a number of important issues in the field of gender policy and priorities for further improvement. This data will serve as a basis for developing new initiatives aimed at improving the situation with gender equality in the public sector.
