The High School has launched a new course of the ”School of strategy training” educational project, launched in 2023 jointly with the NAUCS and with the support of the ”Support to Ukraine’s Government Reforms” (SURGe) project.
On 5 March, the training for senior public servants newly appointed to their positions was opened. Yuliia Lykhach, Head of the High School of Public Governance, and Yevhen Mashyna, Deputy Head of the SURGe Project, welcomed the students of the School of Strategic Thinking. This year’s training for 20 civil servants of category A is organised in the form of a business game “Ukraine – a country of opportunities”. This format will allow for a detailed analysis of topics relevant to the development of the civil service. In particular, the principles of the policy development cycle in accordance with result-based management, a human-centred approach to analysing the current state of the policy area, analysing the situation and identifying the problem of citizens, and generating policy options.
The case studies presented by experienced lecturers and trainers will include strategies for the development of certain areas of public administration, individual public authorities, and personal development of a leader. Three selective online modules on the role of the manager in building an integrity environment of the organisation, communication in the format of a reading club, and gender-oriented governance will also be considered.
The School of Strategy Training was created with the aim of introducing effective tools to ensure the development of professional competencies of senior public servants as a new generation of highly educated Ukrainian leaders and professionals for strategic transformation and state reconstruction. In 2023, 42 civil servants of category A took part in the pilot project.
