Strengthening the institutional capacity of public authorities to implement the principles of gender-responsive governance is an urgent task that requires comprehensive and coordinated efforts by all stakeholders. Taking into account gender aspects in decision-making and management increases the efficiency and effectiveness of public policy. It is with the aim of addressing topical issues of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men, as well as gender aspects of public service, that the High School developed the training programme Gender Responsive Governance in Ukraine.

On 20-21 March, a training session for category A public servants was held under this programme.

During the two days of training, senior public service officials had the opportunity to acquire knowledge of the institutional mechanism for the formation and implementation of gender policy in Ukraine, gain practical skills in taking into account the gender approach in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of policy; and practice applying the principles of gender equality in the administration of public authorities.

It should be noted that last year, the High School, together with the National Agency for State Administration, with the support of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), successfully implemented the educational project “Gender Mainstreaming School” at the initiative of the Office of the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy. In August-September 2023, 15 public servants of category A and 86 of categories B and C underwent advanced training.

Since February 2024, 49 public servants of categories B and C of local state administrations and 22 representatives of the Kyiv City State Administration have already completed the Gender Mainstreaming School.
