On 27 November, a series of trainings organised by UN Women at the request of and in partnership with the State Emergency Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in cooperation with the National Agency of Ukraine for State Emergency Service and the High School of Public Governance came to an end. The event was held as part of the programme ‘Gender-responsive approach in the budget process: from analysis to implementation’.
The purpose of the training was to develop a holistic understanding of the principles and practical application of a gender-responsive approach to budgeting. A special emphasis was placed on raising awareness of the main stages of gender analysis of budget programmes among representatives of the financial units of the SES and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
During the training, which lasted from 23 October to 27 November, the students learned in detail about the concept of gender-responsive budgeting as a tool for ensuring equality. This approach involves a fair distribution of budget funds aimed at achieving equal opportunities for women and men. It is widely used in international practice as a key component of public financial management.
134 participants gained valuable experience and the necessary skills to conduct gender analysis of budget programmes. In addition to theoretical knowledge, they learnt the practical aspects of implementing a gender-oriented approach at each stage of the budget process.
