On 14 August 2024, as part of the educational marathon ‘Organisation of work in the de-occupied territories’, an important online meeting was held on the acute problem of gender-based violence. The speaker at the event was Yulia Savelieva, a gender expert at the National Training Centre for Preventing and Combating Domestic and Gender-Based Violence.
Gender-based violence is one of the most acute problems faced by the de-occupied territories. Russian aggression has led to a significant increase in cases of violence, human trafficking and other crimes, which requires a comprehensive approach to addressing the problem.
The marathon participants had the opportunity to examine in detail various aspects of this complex topic and discuss effective strategies to help victims. The participants discussed the different types of assistance – legal, social, psychological, medical – needed by victims of gender-based violence and the barriers that complicate the provision of assistance to victims.
The expert emphasised the importance of an individual approach to each victim of violence, taking into account their specific needs, and noted that overcoming this problem is a difficult but achievable task that requires joint efforts of all parties.
The educational marathon ‘Organisation of work in the de-occupied territories’ covers topical issues of human resources management, administrative services, ensuring accessibility and quality of social services, educational services, public relations, corruption prevention and integrity, cybersecurity and cyber defence, mobilisation, public procurement, overcoming environmental consequences, infrastructure development and energy efficiency, and psycho-emotional preparation for work in the de-occupied territories.
