On 7 June, the High School took part in the Forum “Promoting Equality and Combating Discrimination”, organised by USAID, NDI and the Government of Sweden.

It should be noted that NDI is a long-standing partner of the High School and has a successful track record of cooperation in developing and implementing gender equality education initiatives for public servants. The implementation of a number of joint successful cases was discussed during the panel discussion “Gender Equality in the Civil Service System”.

Thus, in 2023, the High School, in cooperation with the National Democratic Institute, launched the Gender Mainstreaming School. The educational project was implemented jointly with the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service and at the initiative of the Office of the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy. This is the first programme to comprehensively cover practical tools for gender-responsive governance. As part of this project, 25 civil servants of category A and 207 civil servants of categories B and C were trained in 2023-2024.

This year, the High School, together with the Research Institute and the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service, also completed the preparation of an online course on Gender Approach in Public Administration and a manual for trainers on gender-responsive governance, which will be based on the achievements and experience of experts in the field of gender equality. In April of this year, a training for trainers on gender-oriented governance was held, which certified 23 trainers working in the field of providing educational services for civil servants on gender equality.

The Forum also featured a presentation of the results of a public opinion poll on ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men in Ukrainian society and a panel discussion on Countering Hate Speech in the Professional Environment.
