As part of the third training module at the School of Strategic Training, representatives of the senior civil service discussed ethical dilemmas of leaders in making managerial decisions and the role of integrity in building an effective organization.

Head of the NAUCS Natalia Alushyna familiarized the students with the concept of four types of ethical dilemmas by Rushworth M. Kidder, the difference between ethical and professional dilemmas, how leaders should respond to them, and practical tools for solving dilemmas.

“In order for leaders to respond effectively to dilemmas, they need to create an environment that is conducive to making the right decisions. This can be done by recruiting civil servants with high ethical and professional qualities and creating a favorable working environment. With regard to the ethical qualities of civil servants, the priority should be to find people who embody the values of honesty, responsibility and compassion. A favorable work environment is based on the principles of good governance, effective anti-corruption measures and a positive organizational culture,” emphasized Natalia Alushyna.

The practical part of the training module gave the students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the real problems faced by civil servants and apply the knowledge and skills gained during theoretical training in practice.
