On October 11, the course ‘Cybersecurity of Critical Information Infrastructure for Public Sector Information Security Specialists’, organised by the High School of Public Governance in cooperation with the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, was concluded. The training lasted from September 20 to October 11 and brought together participants from various government agencies responsible for the security of information systems.

The training was conducted by leading cybersecurity experts, including representatives of the State Special Communications Service and CERT-UA. Participants had the opportunity to learn in detail about SOC architecture, modern approaches to network monitoring and setting up systems to protect against cyber threats.

The course covered the following topics:

1. Cyber defence of critical information infrastructure in wartime: threat landscape;
2. Cyberattack: the strategy of Russian hackers. Information security system;
3. Organisation of cyber defence of an institution.

In addition, the participants studied advanced methods of critical information infrastructure protection, current threats and vulnerabilities of information systems, and mastered skills in responding to cyber incidents. The programme included theoretical sessions, practical tasks and simulation exercises, which allowed participants to improve their cyber defence skills.

The course was an important step in strengthening the professional competences of public sector specialists of categories B and C in solving the tasks of building an effective cybersecurity system for a government agency by creating a cybersecurity culture, familiarising them with the state policy in this area and providing free cybersecurity services.

The knowledge and practical skills gained will help participants to respond effectively to current challenges and threats in cyberspace, ensuring reliable protection of Ukraine’s critical information systems.
