From 25 to 27 June 2024, the National Training Centre for Combating Gender-Based Violence of the High School is conducting training on the organisation of mobile social and psychological assistance teams and day centres for social and psychological assistance to victims of domestic and/or gender-based violence.

Training for 24 specialists and managers of day centres for social and psychological assistance is being held at the High School. The training of 24 specialists from mobile teams from different regions of Ukraine is also taking place at the Khmelnytsky Regional Centre for Advanced Training.

The project is being implemented jointly with the National Social Service of Ukraine in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine – UNFPA Ukraine.

At the opening of the training, the Head of the High School, Yuliia Lykhach, emphasised the practical orientation of the programme, which was developed with the specifics of the work of social service professionals in mind.

“I am convinced that the knowledge and experience gained during the training will be used in your daily work, especially in times of war, when working with victims, as well as with veterans. The High School is constantly updating its curricula to meet the current needs of society and promote the professional development of specialists in various fields,” summed up Ms Lykhach.

During the trainings, the students will have the opportunity to discuss the specifics of organising the work and forms of service delivery of mobile teams and day centres for social and psychological assistance. Participants will learn about current legislation, response mechanisms and support systems for victims of violence, gain the knowledge and skills necessary to identify signs of violence, and consider the causes and gender stereotypes underlying violence.

In addition, the issues of social counselling and work with victims, psycho-emotional training, prevention of professional burnout, etc. will be discussed in detail.
