On 28 and 29 November, the Public Policy Analysis programme was held as part of the School of Civic Education. This initiative brought together the efforts of the Centre for Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union, the Higher School of Public Administration and the Hans Seidel Foundation in Ukraine. The main goal of the programme was to develop competencies among public servants that would help ensure European integration and the restoration of Ukraine.

The lecturers at the event were Hanna Tretiachenko, First Deputy Director and Director of the Centre for Adaptation of the Civil Service to EU Standards, and Maryna Kanavets, Director of the Centre for Adaptation of the Civil Service to EU Standards. They focused on the conceptual foundations of public policy analysis, its key concepts and practical application. The participants deepened their knowledge of the policy cycle, the main stages of public policy analysis, and their connection with the development and implementation of legislative initiatives. Particular attention was paid to discussing Ukrainian and international experience in regulating policy analysis procedures.

The School of Civic Education is aimed at a wide range of audiences: civil servants, local government officials, as well as students, postgraduates and doctoral students in the field of Public Administration and Management. Participants noted that this training format is extremely relevant in the face of current challenges, as the knowledge gained during the course will contribute to better management of public processes at various levels.

By participating in the training, public servants received not only a theoretical framework, but also practical tools for policy analysis that will help them make effective decisions. This once again confirms the importance of such programmes for the development of managerial competencies and the acceleration of Ukraine’s European integration processes.
