On December 19, the training ‘Applied Myth Design: Information Space Management Technologies’ was organised by the High School of Public Governance in cooperation with the Centre for Strategic Communications and Information Security. The event was supported by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Zinc Network and the Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law.

The training brought together civil servants and local government officials involved in strategic communications and became an important step in improving their skills in managing the information space. The trainer was Rena Marutian, Doctor of Public Administration, Professor of the Department of Global and National Security at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, who shared her in-depth theoretical knowledge backed by real-life examples from history.

During the event, the participants studied the key concepts and tasks of myth design, its managerial functions, and considered the role of national narratives in the construction of national identity. Considerable attention was paid to neuro-linguistic programming technologies that allow for effective influence on the mass consciousness, as well as work with emotions as the basis for behaviour management.

Particularly useful was the discussion of human myth consciousness, its characteristics and influence on political and socio-cultural processes. Participants also learnt about the classifications of war myths, their impact on public sentiment and their role in ensuring resilience to information threats. The aspects of working with the media and shaping images that contribute to building national identity were also discussed.

The training became an effective platform for sharing knowledge and practical skills in the field of strategic communications. Participants gained valuable experience in working with information technology and myth design, which will help them to respond effectively to information challenges.
