A two-day training organized by UN Women at the request of and in partnership with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in cooperation with the National Agency of Ukraine for Disaster Management and the High School of Public Governance has ended. The event was held within the framework of the program “Gender-oriented approach in the budget process: from analysis to implementation”.

The main goal of the training was to develop a comprehensive understanding of the nature and application of a gender-oriented approach in budgeting, as well as to increase the knowledge of representatives of the SES financial support units on the key stages of gender analysis of budget programs.

The participants studied in detail gender-oriented budgeting as an effective tool for ensuring gender equality, which provides for transparent and fair distribution of budget funds to achieve equal opportunities for women and men. This mechanism is widely used in international practice as an important element of public finance management.

On October 23-24, the participants had the opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct a gender analysis of budget programs. In addition to theoretical knowledge, they learned about the practical aspects of implementing a gender-oriented approach at all stages of the budget process.

To summarize, the training provided participants with effective tools for the effective implementation of a gender-balanced approach to financial planning. The introduction of gender budgeting is an important step towards ensuring equality in public finance management, and the knowledge gained will become the basis for further improvement of budget processes in Ukraine.
