Training for Trainers on preventing and combating domestic and gender-based violence

The High School has completed a three-day training for trainers on the use of training technologies in the implementation of the programme “Strategic Principles for the Development of Interagency Cooperation in the Field of Preventing and Combating Domestic Violence and/or Gender-Based Violence”.

The training was attended by 26 people – representatives of the National Police, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Social Service, the Free Legal Aid Centre, the Probation Centre, and the Prosecutors’ Training Centre.

Viktor Valchuk, Advisor to the Minister of Social Policy, and Leonid Nikolayev, business coach and founder of the TrainingBOX International School of Training and Supervision, worked with the programme participants.

Natalia Shcherbak, Head of the National Training Centre on Prevention and Combating Gender-Based Violence, said in her welcoming speech that this format of training for those who will train specialists promotes coordination and cooperation, and provides an opportunity for feedback and exchange of experience.

The three days covered a wide range of issues. These included national legislation on preventing and combating domestic and gender-based violence, important nuances of implementing the law, and criminal law and criminological issues in this area. In addition, the participants examined in detail the concept, types, value, structure and models of training, key elements of group development and functioning during the training, the specifics of working with difficult participants, typology and ways of dealing with manifestations of group resistance. Attention was also paid to the coordination of interagency cooperation and the development of algorithms for action at the community level in cases of domestic violence. Practical group exercises allowed the participants to consolidate their knowledge and skills, as well as to work through various scenarios that they may face in their work.

Upon completion, the participants received not only certificates of advanced training, but also the necessary knowledge, skills and tools to help them conduct effective trainings on this topic.
