A seminar on occupational health and safety was held. The event brought together representatives of the State Labor Service of Ukraine, state secretaries, heads and deputy heads of central government agencies, as well as representatives of human resources and occupational safety and health services. A total of 326 people took part in the seminar, including 84 who attended offline and 242 who joined online.
At the opening of the event, Head of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service Natalia Alushyna emphasized that the war has become a test of strength not only for each of us, but also for the institutions we represent. “Our ability to pass this test affects the quality of management decisions we are involved in. And these decisions certainly affect various aspects of people’s lives,” she said. The Head of the NAUCS emphasized the importance of continuous learning and experience exchange to achieve maximum results even in difficult conditions.
During the seminar, participants discussed current challenges in the field of occupational safety and health and familiarized themselves with practical recommendations for improving safety in the workplace. The speakers presented a number of important topics:
Igor Degnera, Head of the State Labor Service of Ukraine, emphasized that compliance with safety rules is a key condition for preserving the health and life of employees. He cited statistics on workplace injuries and emphasized the need to improve safety culture in the workplace.
Oleksiy Kudryavtsev, Deputy Director of the Main Training and Methodological Center of the State Labor Service, spoke about the basic principles of building an occupational safety management system in organizations. He drew attention to the legislative framework, risks for employees, and the algorithm for implementing effective mechanisms for monitoring and preventing accidents.
Oleksandr Ignatov, Director of the Labor Safety Department of the State Labor Service of Ukraine, revealed the practical aspects of ensuring employee safety. He elaborated on the requirements for briefings, the role of electronic document management in the occupational safety management system, and the state policy in this area.
Volodymyr Goncharuk, Deputy Head of the State Labor Service, spoke about the organization of medical examinations as an important mechanism for preventing occupational diseases and monitoring the health of employees. He explained the legal requirements for the frequency of examinations and their importance in reducing the risk of accidents.
Olena Konovalova, Deputy Director of the Labor Department of the State Labor Service of Ukraine, focused on mental health as an important component of employee productivity and resilience. She presented strategies for supporting mental health in the workplace, preventing professional burnout, and approaches to psychosocial support under stress.
The seminar has become an effective platform for a professional dialog between experts and government officials on current occupational health and safety issues. The approaches discussed and solutions developed will help to improve the employee safety system, ensure proper working conditions and create a culture of responsible attitude to health in the workplace.
