On 21-22 November 2024, KROK University of Economics and Law hosted an international scientific and practical conference on psychological support and adaptation of Ukrainian citizens in the context of post-war recovery. The event was attended by representatives of the scientific community, NGOs and government agencies.
The conference was organised by the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service, KROK University of Economics and Law, as well as leading European educational institutions, including Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania), Netherlands Business Academy (Netherlands) and University of Foggia (Italy).
In addition, Yuliia Lykhach, Head of the High School, emphasised the importance of integrating psychological support into the professional development system for civil servants. In particular, she stressed that officials working under high stress should not only maintain their own mental health, but also have effective communication skills to help those in need. Particular attention was paid to the reintegration veterans into civilian life and their adaptation to civil service.
In 2023-2024, the High School developed 12 professional development programmes aimed at developing the psychological competence of public sector employees. It prepared 18 certified trainers, created a practical guide ‘Anti-Stress Moneybox’, a series of training videos, and organised a number of research and communication events.
The conference featured a panel discussion on strategic and practical approaches to developing effective policies in the field of psychosocial support. Participants emphasised the role of civil servants in ensuring the mental health of citizens as an important element of the country’s recovery.
This initiative is another step in developing the professional competence of officials, which contributes to the creation of an effective and responsive public administration system.
