On 28 August 2024, the Summer English School was launched at the High School of Public Governance.
The main goal of the Summer English School is to help civil servants overcome the language barrier and improve their communication skills in professional English.
The training will be held in the intensive course mode – 2 lessons every other day from 28 August to 09 September. Four highly professional lecturers from the High School of Public Governance are involved in the intensive course. The main focus of the classes will be on practising spoken English in real-life situations, increasing vocabulary, developing critical thinking, acquiring debating skills and teamwork.
The Summer English School was attended by 28 civil servants from 12 institutions who expressed a desire to improve their English language skills and take a course in the Everyday Communication programme.
During the opening of the Summer English School, in her welcoming speech, Nataliia Aliushyna, Head of the NAUCS, noted that in connection with the granting of Ukraine’s EU candidate status and the official recognition of English as one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine, the ability of civil servants to communicate in English and French in the course of their official activities is of particular importance, and also noted that the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Use of English in Ukraine’ requires that English language proficiency is mandatory. She also emphasised that the High School of Public Governance, as an educational and scientific hub, constantly provides high-level training for civil servants to improve their English and French language skills, and implements a number of educational projects and programmes to develop foreign language competencies together with the NAUCS.
