On 30 and 31 January, the High School of Public Governance held a short-term training program “Critical Communications and Countering Disinformation”. The event was attended by 50 civil servants seeking to improve their communication skills in crisis situations.
The trainer was Natalia Nechaeva-Yuriychuk, Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, PhD in History.
The training program is aimed at developing the competencies necessary to ensure an effective information space, counteract disinformation and fake news, and improve communication mechanisms between public authorities and society.
The participants mastered the legislative aspects of information security, learned methods of analyzing information flows and algorithms for detecting manipulative content. Particular attention was paid to crisis communications: identifying types of crises, principles of responding to information challenges, and rules for creating reliable messages in times of uncertainty.
Thanks to such initiatives, public servants receive the necessary tools to work effectively in the information space, which is especially important in today’s challenges. Education in critical communications is not only relevant, but also vital for strengthening public trust in government institutions and ensuring the resilience of society to information threats.
