Adaptation of veterans: support and training

Return

Returning to peaceful life after experiencing hostilities or captivity is a complex process that requires support not only from the state but also from society. It is important to understand the characteristics of these people and create conditions for their adaptation so that they can integrate into everyday life.

The High School, together with representatives of the Vesta NGO, conducts training for public servants aimed at raising their awareness of working with veterans, ex-combatants and family members of the deceased. This training helps civil servants and local government officials to effectively interact with people who require special attention, understand their needs and facilitate their adaptation in society.

In Ukraine, the number of people with the status of veterans, ex-combatants, and family members of the dead and missing is growing every year. They face challenges in adapting to civilian life, need psychological support and effective social integration. It is important not only to legally formalise their status, but also to create conditions for using their professional and leadership skills in civilian life. Particular attention should be paid to their emotional state and communication skills, which require a sensitive approach and mutual respect.

This and other information is provided in the online course ‘Organisation of work in the territories affected by military operations’, available on the StudyіЯ platform of the High School of Public Governance. The course provides practical knowledge for working in conflict situations and helps to improve communication with affected groups.
