On 27-31 May 2024, representatives of the High School take part in a training of trainers on transitional justice in The Hague, Netherlands.
The project to develop a training course on transitional justice and train trainers for its further implementation is being implemented by the High School in cooperation with the National Agency of Ukraine for Civil Service,
The Hague Academy of Local Government, the independent non-governmental organisation UpRights and the professional inter-university centre of knowledge and research T.M.C. Asser Institute. The training is part of the Restoring Dignity and Justice in Ukraine programme, which aims to bring to justice international crimes committed in Ukraine. The aim is to help representatives of state authorities and local self-government bodies implement transitional justice practices in their work to promote peace and reconciliation in Ukraine.
The first phase of the project involved a needs assessment through interviews and surveys to determine the topics of the training course. As a result, 7 specialised online training modules were developed, which make up the online course on transitional justice.
The second stage of the course development is currently underway with the training of trainers on transitional justice in The Hague.
There are also plans to develop a general short-term training programme, which will include an online course on transitional justice (the first part of the programme) and webinars with teachers (the second part). This programme will be launched at the High School in the second half of 2024.
We would like to add that the High School and the Hague Academy of Local Government have a successful cooperation. Last year, together with the MATRA programme “Good Governance and Integrity in the Public Sector in Ukraine”, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Hague Academy of Local Government, 20 trainers were trained to promote integrity in the civil service. The online course “Integrity of Civil Servants in the Exercise of Public Office” and the manual “Promoting Integrity and Good Governance. Reflections and Best Practices for Public Institutions”.
