On February 26, the training under the programme ‘Russian disinformation and ways to counter it’ started, organised by the High School. This initiative aims to increase the level of professional competencies of civil servants in identifying disinformation narratives and fake messages. In the face of modern information threats, the programme is crucial for ensuring effective communications with the public and strengthening information security.
The Centre for Strategic Communication and Information Security and EU4PAR are partners of the programme, which highlights the importance of the event and the timeliness of its topic. The main goal is to develop participants’ ability to effectively detect and counter disinformation using modern methods and tools.
Participants will learn about basic concepts in the field of information security, channels spreading disinformation and propaganda tools. They will be taught how to conduct fact-checking, identify false messages and debunk fakes. Special attention is paid to effective communication with the public in the context of information attacks. Participants will also master methods of recognising propaganda and tools for countering disinformation.
In her welcome speech, Yuliia Lykhach, Director of the High School, thanked the Centre for Strategic Communication and Information Security for its cooperation and stressed the importance of the chosen topic. She emphasised that information security is a key component of national resilience, especially in the context of modern challenges. She also drew attention to the fact that information manipulations are becoming more sophisticated and complex, requiring civil servants to adopt new approaches and countermeasures.
Countering disinformation is an integral part of ensuring national security. Thanks to such training programmes, civil servants become better prepared for the information challenges of our time, which contributes to the formation of a resilient and informed society.
