On February 17, a training session for category “A” civil servants on the analysis and optimization of work processes was held in Kyiv.

The event was organized by the High School of Public Governance in cooperation with the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service and the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, with the support of the EU4PAR project and brought together about 70 participants.

Opening the training, EU4PAR project lead Ugis Siks emphasized the importance of a process-based approach as one of the key tools for improving the efficiency of public institutions and ensuring systemic transformations in the public sector.

The trainer for the event was Serhii Komberianov, Director of the Lean Institute Ukraine, a leading Lean practitioner and expert in the field of management and work process optimization.

The training program “Analysis and Optimization of Work Processes in Public Institutions: A Strategy for Effective Implementation” focused on the practical application of the process approach and Lean thinking in public administration.

Participants examined the features and advantages of implementing a process approach, approaches to identifying inefficiencies, analysis of work processes through the prism of eight types of losses, as well as tools for finding potential for improvement.

An important component of the training was a practical block, during which participants worked on identifying specific points for optimizing work processes in their agencies.

Special attention was paid to leadership issues in implementing change. The relevant module discussed the formation of transformation teams, managing resistance to change, ensuring support for change, and forming a culture of continuous improvement in government agencies.
